Geffner Atemoya (Annona squamosa × Annona cherimola)
Source tree from Shamus O'Learys Tropical Fruit Trees, Apr 2016
Atemoyas do really well here. It is not planted in full sun, but most-day sun (gets a little overhead protection from 12-1 from a Brazilian Pepper tree, which somewhat filtered light in the afternoon). But in summer the leaves never looked scorched like they do on my cherimoyas. They stay nice and green. And it tolerates the winter (not happily like the cherimoyas, but certainly better than sugar apples). My Geffner has flowered every spring I have had it. No fruit yet. The tree is getting to the size where it could hold fruit, so I might try hand pollinating this year.
